Our Diversity Ambassadors are a new pupil voice group which was formed this session. (2025- 2026). The ambassadors are elected representatives from P1–P7 who work together to ensure that everyone at Hillside feels respected, valued and included. They play a key role in promoting a positive, welcoming school community where differences are celebrated and everyone feels they belong.
This year, the group is focusing on two important priorities. Firstly, they are helping to develop a shared understanding of what bullying is and how we can prevent it at Hillside. They have delivered assemblies to support pupils in recognising the difference between bullying and conflict, empowering everyone to respond appropriately and support one another. Secondly, they are encouraging our school community to celebrate diversity—helping us to learn from one another and appreciate what makes each of us unique.
In addition, the group has been raising awareness of bullying using Scotland’s Respect for All approach. They have explored resources from respectme, Scotland’s national anti-bullying service, to help pupils, staff and families better understand what bullying is, why it happens and how we can work together to prevent it.
Through their leadership and commitment, our Diversity Ambassadors are helping to create a safe, inclusive and respectful environment where everyone is proud to be themselves.
